City of Atlanta
Atlanta, GA
The City of Atlanta’s Parks Department had a beautiful marquee that was constantly being defaced, its lettering constantly stolen. The sign needed to be encased, but the department didn’t want its nice appearance impaired. They considered an acid-etched glass encasement, but the cost was exorbitant and the process difficult. Asked to find a better solution, landscape architect Cal Comier called the local LLumar dealer.

Freemont Marriott Hotel
Freemont, CA
Set at the gateway to Silicon Valley at the southern tip of San Francisco Bay, the Fremont Marriott features an elegant and accommodating atmosphere. The hotel’s luxurious indoor swimming pool, however, is set between a parking area on one side and the health club on the other. Encircled by a transparent glass wall, guests on both sides could see in, giving swimmers and sunbathers very little privacy.

The World Trade Center
Atlanta, GA
The World Trade Center Atlanta is a prestigious private club and prominent meeting place for many international businesspeople. Although its upscale lounge bar was often used for private functions, its clear glass entryway offered little privacy. Acid-etched glass was initially explored as a solution, but was quickly discarded on the grounds that it would be costly and disruptive to install.

Morton's: The Steakhouse
Atlanta, GA
Traditional acid glass etching was one possible solution, but that option involved an expensive, difficult, unforgiving, and permanent process. The company’s director of architecture wisely considered other options and concluded that the designer line of LLumar window film could provide all the benefits he sought at a fraction of the cost—plus design flexibility that acid-etching would not provide.

Waikiki Marriott Resort
Waikiki, USA
An otherwise beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting, the Waikiki Beach Marriott wasn’t putting its best foot forward for incoming guests: the hotel’s main lobby corridor included an unsightly view of green houses, untidy potting sheds, and various other clutter. The Marriott needed the corridor screened, and wanted something more: a unique design to serve as a welcoming backdrop for newly arriving guests.
